Mr. Anthony Hubble is the owner and Chief Instructor at Hubble ATA Masters Academy, his second Songahm Taekwondo School. A 4th Degree Black Belt and a Certified ATA Instructor, he has been a practicing martial artist since 1973 and a member of the American Taekwondo Association since 1987. Considering himself nothing more than a serious student or “a white belt who never knew when to quit,” he has trained with some of the elite instructors in the martial arts industry. He is a Certified Protech Instructor and an International Judge.
He was the first ATA Virginia State Champion in Forms (2001) and is currently the first ATA Arizona Combat Weapons Sparring Champion (2011). He is ranked #8 in the World Championships in Combat Weapons and #2 in the World Championships in Creative Weapons Forms.
Mr. Hubble firmly believes that the Songahm Taekwondo curriculum contains the knowledge and tools necessary to create the leaders needed in America today. He also believes in the power of the martial arts to effect positive change in people’s lives, regardless of age.
To ensure his students are getting the most cutting edge curricula available he continuously updates his own martial arts knowledge and skill sets. He is currently studying the Olweus Bully Management system. Additionally, he is a White Belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, seeking to one day earn his Gracie Jiu Jitsu Black Belt while simultaneously continuing on the road to Master Instructor rank in Songahm Taekwondo.
Mr. Mark Valetta is a 1st Degree Black Belt and a Level 1 Certified Trainer. He began training at Hubble ATA Masters Academy in 2009 shortly after his son enrolled into the Tiny Tigers program. Both father and son are now Black Belts and Mr. Valetta is the Dojang’s Tiny Tigers instructor.
Mr. Valetta possesses that unique combination of coach, mentor, playmate, and instructor who knows how to earn the trust and confidence of his students, particularly for the very unique 4-6 year Tiny Tigers age group. He blends Songahm Tae Kwon Do fundamentals with fun games that the children love to play. It is his very patient playful personality that makes him successful with the Tigers. He also knows how important health and fitness are to the lives of young children. In addition to teaching at the Dojang, he also teaches five classes at the Presidio Charter School and teaches two days a week at Village Meadows Elementary, both located in Sierra Vista.
Mr. Michael Philhower is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and Certified ATA instructor with over 8 years experience in various martial arts, including two different styles of Taekwondo, Goshinbudo, and Tang Soo Do. He is also proficient with a variety of weapons including the katana, eskrima, nonchaku, bo staff, and the kama. A member of the American Taekwondo Association since 2006, Mr. Philhower has competed across the nation becoming the Arizona State Champion. He also placed 9th and 10 in the World Championships in Weapons and Traditional Forms in 2010.
Mr. Philhower’s versatility and extensive knowledge are the results of his dedicated training in all aspects of martial arts. He began his career in 2003 while stationed with the US army in South Korea, where he studied a very traditional style of Palgwe Taekwondo.
Mr. Philhower has been teaching at Hubble ATA Masters Academy since 2007. He continually strives to acquire knowledge of and experience with the ATA instructional programs. Through Mr. Hubble’s tutelage and his own studies he has developed a distinct style of teaching that is thorough, challenging, and powerful. He is committed to inspiring and helping students learn the art of Songham Taekwondo.
Nicole Jackson is Hubble ATA's School Administrator. She is a 1st Degree Black Belt who began training shortly after her three daughters and is now one of five black belts in her family. She is also the 2011 AZ State Champion in Forms and Sparring for her division. Her martial arts goals include continuing to train towards her 2nd degree black belt as well as becoming certified in judging. Generally she just rocks.
Mr. Derrick Kosteff is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and Level 2 Specialty Certified Trainer in the American Taekwondo Association with over 20 years of various martial arts experience. He was an Instructor in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program while on Active Duty with the Corps. He has also trained in the Israeli Combatives System Krav Maga and since joining the US Army, the Army Combatives Program. His competitive career began in 1993 in Florida when he became Nationally and World ranked. Along with his extensive competitive experience he is also an International Chief Judge.
Mr. Kosteff focuses his instructional methodology around physical fitness, promoting explosive speed and dynamic striking which are the aspects of Taekwondo that make it one of the most sought-after styles of Martial Arts in the world. He is dedicated to preparing the students of Hubble ATA Masters Academy for any conflict and effective conflict resolution while emphasizing student safety in a realistic training environment.
Mr. Keith Webb is a 1st Degree Black Belt who began training at Hubble ATA Masters Academy in November 2009. He is the primary instructor of our Extreme Martial Arts (XMA) classes and an assistant instructor in our traditional and weapons classes. He is the 2010 and 2011 Arizona State Champion in 5 divisions. He is skilled in a variety of weapons to include the Katana (Samurai sword), Bahng Mahng Ee (fighting sticks), and Jahng Bong (Bo staff).
Mr. Webb’s integrity, honor, work ethic, and humility are the key to his accomplishments and he shares those values with his students and classmates. He is patient and applies imagery to help students move forward in their journey to achieve black belt in Songahm Taekwondo. He is a firm believer in self discipline and he trains diligently both at the dojang and during his off time. He gives of his free time to help others improve their performances and is available to mentor any student seeking to develop their skills.
An accomplished artist and a student at the Art Institute in Tucson, AZ he is also the dojang’s resident artist who designs our flyers, dojang décor, t-shirts, and tournament medals. His goals include one day owning his own ATA school and he is actively pursuing further training to accomplish that goal.
