Tai Chi Chuan (literally translated, “Supreme Ultimate Boxing) is the most practiced martial art in the world. It is known for its slow, fluid, and graceful movements. Although a superior martial art (certainly one of the most ancient), the vast majority of the people who “play” Tai Chi Chuan do so for the known health benefits the movements bring about. Some of these benefits include, deep muscle relaxation and toning, balance, coordination, lowered blood pressure, easier, deeper respiration and a serene state of mind. There are several documented and peer reviewed studies of Tai Chi improving the range of motion, balance and coordination of arthritis patients.

At Hubble ATA Masters Academy we teach Yang Tai Chi Chuan, a style founded by Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) and popularized by his grandson Yang Chen Fu (1883-1936). Mr. Hubble has been training in Yang Tai Chi Chuan for 13 years, most recently (for the past 5 years) under Grandmaster William CC Chen’s system. His approach to playing and teaching Tai Chi focuses on body mechanics, breathing and energy circulation, rather than the esoteric and “magical” powers some attribute to the art. He believes the recuperative and energizing properties of the physical practice of this martial art are the true magic.
